MLC 2023: Texas Super Kings back to winning ways Beat MI New York by 17 runs

The rivalry between CSK and MI in the IPL is well-known to the world. The rivalry took a new route as MI New York were up against Texas Super Kings in MLC. Both the teams have had a similar tournament till now having won one and lost one out of the two matches played so far.

It promised to be a thriller considering the history of the teams in franchise cricket. Batting first after winning the toss TSK lost the captain Du Plessis early as he threw his wicket away by giving a simple catch to the fielder at the boundary.

Devon Conway continued his good form by riding his luck as he got away with few close chances as the ball kept on evading the fielders. His partner at the other end Cody Chetty also rode his luck and scored a 15 ball 12 before he was dismissed by MI New York captain Pollard. 

Conway- Miller Take Control

Miller and Conway built a much-needed 54-run partnership which took TSK past the 100-run mark before Miller was caught by Azam on the bowling of Rabada who bowled well to pick up two wickets giving away just 30 runs in his four overs.

Coming back to TSK batting Conway was foxed by the leg-spin of Rashid for a well-made 74 off 55 balls with 8 fours and one Dwayne Bravo followed soon after.

It was up to Santner to provide a good finish to the innings which he did by scoring 27 runs off just 15 balls taking the score to 154 for 7. It was a decent bowling performance from MI New York bowlers led by Rabada and Boult who picked up two wickets each along with Pollard and Rashid both of who were able to get one wicket a piece.

MI New York Lost The Plot

Chasing a target of 155 MI New York was not off to a good start as the men in blue lost Monak Patel in the second over of the inning. His Partner Shayan Jahangir was looking solid as he scored 41 crucial runs and held one end but other than Steven Taylor no batter was able to get a big score.

MI New York kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and as a result lost the match by 17 runs. Talking about the bowling of the Super Kings, Daniel Sams was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up two wickets and gave away just 15 runs in his four overs.
