Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez will join Al-Ahli for €35 million

Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez will join Saudi side Al-Ahli for €35 million plus €5m in add-ons. He will sign a three-year contract with an option for another year.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Mahrez has completed his medicals and will be announced as a new Al-Ahli player. He has not travelled with City’s squad for their pre-season trip to Japan in order to complete his move.

City wanted Mahrez to stay at the club, but the Saudi club were able to match City’s evaluation for the forward. The Treble winners will now sign a new winger to replace him.

Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva is also being approached by several European and Saudi clubs. Man City would’ve liked to keep both players, but it looks like, the Algerian is on his way out.

Now, City would not want to lose Bernardo Silva too.

Riyad Mahrez will join Roberto Firmino and Edouard Mendy at Al-Ahli

Marhez will join Roberto Firmino and Edouard Mendy at Al-Ahli. Both players have already joined the Saudi club. Al-Ahli are also looking to sign Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin.

Man City signed Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for £60 million in 2018. Last season the Algerian winger scored 15 goals in 47 appearances and helped them to win the Treble.

Mahrez becomes the latest player from the Premier League to join Saudi Pro League. The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Roberto Firmino and Ruben Neves have already left their clubs. Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are also set to join the Gulf state.

Who will replace Mahrez at City?

Mahrez has scored 78 goals and 59 assists in 236 appearances in all competitions with City. He won 11 trophies at the club, including five league titles after his move from Leicester City.

Pep Guardiola will now look for a replacement in the transfer market. Man City are considering singing Bradley Barcola from Lyon.
