Man United transfer target Eric Choupo-Moting signs contract extension with Bayern Munich

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, the 33-year old Cameroon international who featured with his national team in last year’s Qatar World Cup, has agreed to sign a contract extension with his present club, the German heavyweights Bayern Munich, which will see him offer his services at the club until the end of 2024 season.

But, much to the misfortune of Manchester United fans, he will not be coming to their club because of his commitments at the German club.

He has been a potential target in the front line-up, owing to the departure of their legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who is lighting up the Saudi Pro League, scoring eight goals and assisting two of them.

The Cameroon international was linked up to the “Red Devils” this January, as his deal was about to expire at the end of the ongoing season.

The Giant Dutchman to the rescue

Despite speculations about Eric’s linkup to United, the club had already signed Wout Weghorst, the Giant Dutchman, on loan from Burnley, who had already lived up to his name with the English stalwarts.

Scoring one goal and having three assists to his name and starting almost every game, he have had a significant impact on the team’s dream run this season, with significant contributions in the club’s 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Newcastle United( which was also his first trophy ).

He almost single handedly destroyed every Argentine fans’ dream when he scored a brace in the quarter finals of the World Cup against Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

“I am happy here”- says Eric Maxim

The Cameroonian has been the highest scorer for Bayern this season with 16 goals to his name this season, which will see him add to this tally as he is available for one more year.

He was heard saying, “I’m super happy to be staying longer and continuing to have lots of fun with the club. I feel very much at home here. My family also feel at home in Munich. That’s a very important point for me. I’m obviously pleased I can help the team so much.

I get on really well with the guys, we work hard on our goals. The competition is big, but when you want to be among the best, that’s part of it. It’s the only way you can win lots of titles. And we’ve still got big plans. The whole package is right at FC Bayern. There’s no reason to change anything.”

Meanwhile Erik Ten Hag and his brigade will have to look elsewhere for a permanent solution.
