LPL clash between Dambulla Aura and Galle Titans stopped due to Snake

The incident took place during the second innings of the match

There have been times when a cricket match is halted due to some weird reasons. We have seen games being stopped due to excessive sunlight, attack of bees, An expatiator intervening in the field, and many more. One more reason for play being stopped has been the presence of snakes on the ground. Something similar happened during the LPL match between Dambulla Aura and Galle Titans as the game was stopped when the news broke that there is a snake on the ground. The Incident took place during the second innings of the game.

The Snake

The incident happened during the second match of the tournament and the first match of the doubleheader between Dambulla Aura and Galle Titans. Dambulla skipper Kusal Mendis won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Gladiators set a 181-run target for the Giants, thanks to Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s 34-ball 48-run knock and contributions of great impact from other batters which include 31 ball 43 from Dhananjay De Silva, 40 off 25 balls from Kusal Perera and 39 off 28 balls from the bat of Alex Ross.

The Kick off

The LPL kicked off on Sunday with the match between defending champions Jaffna Kings and Colombo Stars which the defending champions won comfortably by 21 runs. Batting first Jaffna Kings scored 173 runs on the board courtesy of some good batting from Towhid Hridoy who scored 54 runs off 39 balls and was supported well by Rahmanullah Gurbaz Dunith Wellalge Primyal Parera and the skipper Thisara Parera who scored a quickfire 14 off 7 deliveries. Chasing a target of 174 Stars could only manage to score 152 as the Kings romped home to a comfortable win. The shining light for Stars in the loss was their captain and Wicketkeeper batter Niroshan Dickwella who scored 58 off 34 balls. Hardus Viljoen was the pick of the bowler for Kings picking up 3 for 31 in his tram’s bowling innings, He was well supported by Vijaykanth Viyaskanth who picked up 2 for 17 in his four-over spell.
