Liverpool will sign Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig

Liverpool will sign Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig. The Premier League giants have triggered his €70 million release clause.

Liverpool activated his release clause just in time, as it was about to expire on June 30. They have already agreed personal terms with Szoboszlai’s representative.

The Hungarian midfielder made 31 appearances last season for RB Leipzig, scoring six goals and registering eight assists.

He joined Leipzig in 2021 from RB Salzburg, and since then, he has scored 20 goals and has 21 assists in 91 appearances for the German outfit.

The 22-year-old also helped Leipzig to finish third in Bundesliga. They also won their second DFB Pokal in a row.

RB Leipzig has also sold Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea with a similar release clause. Moreover, with Szoboszlai’s transfer to Liverpool almost done, Leipzig has already sold two of their best players.

Newcastle United were also ready to pay the release clause to sign the midfielder. However, Liverpool have now won the race.

Szoboszlai also scored a goal in Leipzig’s 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt to help them win the DFB Pokal again this season.

Jurgen Klopp continues his summer rebuild at Anfield

After signing Alexis Mac Allister for just £35 million from Brighton, this will be their new big signing for the next season. Klopp will be happy with his revamp in midfield.

The ex-Dortmund manager will again look to compete in all competitions next season after a poor 2022/23 campaign.

However, they will not play in the Champions League, which is a big blow for the six-time UCL winners.

Liverpool have also sent Fabio Carvalho to Leipzig on a season-long loan. The talented forward joined the Reds from Fulham for just £5 million.

Moreover, the likes of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are leaving the club this summer. The 2020 Premier League winners will look to add one or two new midfielders after signing Szoboszlai.
