Mohammed Salah Likely to leave Liverpool if they fail to Qualify for Champions League next season

Liverpool has been struggling as they are at the 7th spot and 3 points behind Fulham in the Premier League, possibly out of contention for any major trophy during the 2022-23 season.

Jurgen Klopp has been open about bringing in new signings in the summer window and making major crucial changes to his side after a forgetful season.

Mohammed Salah likely to leave Liverpool next season

According to Fichajes, Liverpool star Mohammed Salah could be willing to leave the Merseyside club in the summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season. Reportedly, PSG are willing to pay €80m for the 30-year-old.

Mo Salah recently extended his contract with Liverpool till 2025 but selling him could prove important for the club in strengthening their midfield as Mo Salah has been putting in less impact on Klopp’s side and have potential replacing options in attacking. Salah has currently scored just 8 goals and provided 5 assists in 23 matches in the premier league.

Mo Salah was a crucial part of the Liverpool team that won six trophies including the Premier League after 30 years, the Champions League, and the Fifa Club World Cup.

Also, it is being considered that Salah is being left out in the build-up since the departure of Sadio Mane, who dropped deep and kept the front three of Liverpool intact with the team. In such a scenario, Klopp is planning to bring in at least 2 midfielders to his side and reconsidering his build-up plan.

Fall of Mighty Liverpool in 2022/23 Season

Liverpool have been favorites to win the Premier League for a couple of seasons alongside Manchester City. They missed out on the Premier League title by just 1 point behind City on two occasions during the 2018/19 and 2021/22 seasons.

However, there was a sudden downfall in the Liverpool side during the 2022/23 season. Klopp has been open about bringing in experience and squad depth to his side in the summer.

While City quickly managed to bring on quality squad depth, Liverpool failed to do so leaving their key players fatigued and injury prone. Liverpool’s attacking side have struggled to score goals after Roberto Firmino being benched and Sadio Mane leaving the side, shouldering huge responsibilities on newcomers like Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz.

Liverpool have also struggled in their midfield as Thiago is injury prone while Henderson and James Milner are well above age to play full-time games all season. Virgil van Dijk is yet to find his solid defensive partner with Fabinho moving to Defensive-Mid while Joel Matip and Ibrahim Konate leave the defense with flaws.

They will be hoping to turn things around in this season, and manage to qualify for the European Competition next season.
