Lionel Messi predicts future Ballon d’Or winners after collecting his eighth award
Lionel Messi has revealed who will win the Ballon d’Or awards in the near future after collecting his eighth last night in Paris.
The 36-year-old collected his 8th Ballon d’Or award after winning the World Cup with Argentina last year in Qatar. Manchester City star Erling Haaland came second after guiding Pep Guardiola’s side to a Treble in his debut season.
Whereas, Messi’s former PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe came third after winning the golden boot at the World Cup and guiding PSG to a Ligue 1 title.
After collecting the award from David Beckham, Messi hailed both Haaland and Mbappe and predicted that they would win the Ballon d’Or for sure in the near future.

“Haaland and Mbappe will win the Ballon d’Or one day. Erling deserved it very much too, he has won Premier League, Champions League while being the top scorer of everything.
“This award could have been yours today too. I’m sure in the next years you will win it.
The Argentine predicted big names like Haaland, Mbappe and Vinicus Jr to win the award in the near future. However, he also thinks that La Masia youngster Lamine Yamal will win the award in the near future.
“I also think that Lamine Yamal, who is still very young and plays for Barcelona, will play a prominent role and fight for it in the future too. There are always good players. A very nice stage is coming to for us to enjoy.”
This is a high praise for the 16-year-old youngster, who has already attracted enormous amount of hype after making his first team debut.
