Leandro Paredes returns to Roma from Paris-Saint Germain

Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes returns to AS Roma. Roma will pay €4 million to PSG for Paredes. The World Cup winner will sign a contract with Roma until 2025.

The 29-year-old spent the last season on loan at Juventus. But now he has returned to the Giallorossi, Paredes scored four goals in 54 competitive appearances between 2014 and 2017.

What Paredes said after re-joining Roma

“Coming back to Rome is always a special thing, but doing so now as a Roma player is even more special,” revealed Paredes.

“I’d like to thank the fans for welcoming me and Roma for bringing me back to the club where I launched my career in Europe.”

“Last year was an incredibly happy one for me with the World Cup, so now I want to keep tasting success and I’m convinced I can do just that with this team.”

Leandro Paredes returns to Roma alongside Renato Sanches

Leandro Paredes’ PSG teammate Renato Sanches has also joined Roma on a loan deal. Moreover, the Italian club will have a €15 million buy option clause included in the deal.

Paredes will be wearing Roma’s No.16 in 2023-24. It’s an iconic number for the Giallorossi, given that it previously belonged to club legend De Rossi.

In his first interview with the club, Paredes revealed he had spoken to the ex-Giallorossi midfielder, asking permission to get his squad number. “I never would’ve allowed it to happen without Daniele’s permission,” said Paredes, who had played with De Rossi at Roma.
