La Liga rejects FC Barcelona’s attempt to register Gavi in the first team, know details

It is now been officially confirmed that La Liga have blocked FC Barcelona’s attempt to register Gavi as a new first-team player and because of this, the midfielder is still listed as a player of Barcelona Atheltic [Barca B].

Gavi had already signed a long-term deal which runs until 2026 back in September 2022 and there was optimism that the Spanish giants could finally promote him to the first team in the January transfer window as Gerard Pique had retired from football back in November and then he who was one of the highest earners at the Camp Nou was off the books.

And apart from Pique, FC Barcelona recently sold the Dutch striker Memphis Depay to thier arch-rivals Atletico Madrid for a total fee of around 5 Million Euros. But despite all these movements in the club, along with the various economic levers that they have forced this season, they still couldn’t comply with the financial regulations set by the league.

Gavi is surely one for the future

However, despite him not being registered as a first-team player, the quality and the style of play that Gavi has, nobody can take away that from him cause already he has won the Golden Boy award and the Kopa trophy. And apart from securing a crucial part in Xavi’s starting lineup, he has already played for his country and represented Spain in the recent FIFA World Cup.

Once the midfielder is registered in the first team, he would play with the iconic number ‘6’ that was once worn by club legend and current Barca coach Xavi Hernandez, but at the moment he’ll continue to play with the number ’30’. All in all, it’s just a matter of time before the board of Barcelona puts everything in place.
