Playing his first Test in 22 months, and eighth overall, Kuldeep Yadav picked up the third five-wicket haul of his career as India bowled out Bangladesh for 150 on the third morning in Chattogram. Despite a lead of 254, they decided against enforcing the follow-on.
His success in Chattogram was not only limited to his bowling but to batting as well. Kuldeep scored his career-best runs in test cricket, 40, and stitched a crucial eight-wicket partnership with R. Ashwin. The 92-run stand took India past the 400-run mark.

Kuldeep Yadav has bowled in 13 Test innings. Staggeringly, he has taken four or more wickets in five of those. He takes a wicket nearly every six overs. By virtue of his epic spell, Kuldeep has written his name in the history books and upstaged the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Anil Kumble to create a new record. Kuldeep’s figures of 5/40 are the best ever by an Indian spinner against Bangladesh in the longest format of the game. In fact, Kuldeep is only the third Indian spinner alongside Ashwin and Sunil Joshi to take a 5-ver against Bangladesh in red-ball cricket.

Zaheer (3) and Irfan (2) are the only Indian bowlers to complete the feat multiple times.
