IPL 2023: AB de Villiers to return to RCB’s team for one last time

IPL legend ABD has promised to make a return to former club next season.

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore great AB de Villiers said that he will return to the Chinnaswamy Stadium in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2023).

Albeit it will be in a different avatar – to cheer and thank all the fans for their support over a decade.

De Villiers, who played his last IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2021, called time on his international career in 2018.

“I will return to Chinnaswamy next year, not to play, but to apologize to all the fans for not winning the trophy and to thank them for their support over a decade,” De Villiers was heard saying on Monday in a Twitter space sponsored by the man himself.

“I’m not playing cricket again because of right side eye surgery,” he continued.

The Indian Premier League is expected to resume on April 8th, with the league returning to its previous format. The fans would be overjoyed to watch their cult hero ABD show up in their colours for the final time.

Since his debut in 2011, ABD has scored 2831 runs for RCB. He has 37 half centuries and two centuries to his name. Despite the fact that he retired without a trophy, he will be remembered as one of the best players of all time.
