Inter frustrated with Romelu Lukaku as he leans towards Juventus move

Inter are frustrated with Romelu Lukaku after they were unable to contact him despite finally agreeing a deal with Chelsea. The Belgian striker’s move to Inter is now completely off, and Juventus are frontrunners for his signature now.

What really happened between Inter and Lukaku?

Lukaku was on his way to seal a permanent transfer with Inter, as they were already selling Andre Onana to fund his transfer. Inter and Chelsea completed an agreement on a deal worth in the region of €40 million.

However, once Juventus entered the race, Lukaku cut off communication with Inter and was difficult to reach. This left Inter directors frustrated as they were expecting him to return.

Moreover, the Nerazzurri have informed Chelsea that they have pulled-out of the deal. According to Di Marzio, a 30 second call between Inter director Piero Ausilio and Lukaku signaled the end of their interest in him. The director’s message to Lukaku was clear and simple – “it’s over.”

Inter frustrated with Romelu Lukaku after he ‘betrayed’ them

Before signing Lukaku, Juve will have to offload their current number 9, Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian will leave the club this summer, and Chelsea, Tottenham and PSG are looking to sign him.

Furthermore, much will depend on the sale of Vlahovic, and only after his sale Juventus will sign Lukaku.

Both club directors and also former teammates attempted to call Lukaku. The main reason for not answering the calls is that Lukaku has also been in negotiations with the Nerazzurri’s Serie A rivals Juventus. The talks with the Bianconeri have been ongoing for a number of weeks.

Lukaku and Juventus have been in talks before Inter played in the Champions League final. If Juventus are unable to sign him, he will either move Saudi Pro League, or he will stay at Chelsea. The move to Inter will not happen.

However, one thing is clear, he’s burned bridges with Inter and has damaged his reputation with the fans. The Nerazzurri will now have to find another striker to replace him.
