Slowly and gradually, Harry Kane is returning to his goal-scoring instinct ahead of the World Cup in less than three months now. And now has two accolades to show for them.

On Saturday, Harry Kane broke a sacred Premier League record in his side’s home victory against Wolves. In the tight game, Kane’s second-half header turned out to be the decider between the two teams.

With this goal, Kane also broke Sergio Aguero’s record of most goals for a team in the Premier League era. He now has 185 goals to his name. This also takes him fourth on the all-time goal scorer’s tally in the premier league, which Alan Shearer tops with 260 goals.

This was also Harry Kane’s 250th goal in the Tottenham shirt. The second player on the list is Jermain Defoe, with just 143 goals to his name. While Heung Min Son holds the third position with 131 goals.

Close contest between Tottenham and Wolverhampton Wanderers

The third opening encounter of the third match week saw a brutal clash between two London rivals. Playing in the second consecutive London derby, Tottenham didn’t bring their A game in the first half.

Wolves looked more involved in the game and created more chances in the first half. However, they failed to rattle the Spurs’ defence. At the mark of halftime, both the teams couldn’t be separated. But the Wolves definitely looked the side more likely to score.

Tottenham came out in the second half raging for glory. In the opening minutes, a diving header by Kane rattled the post. And only a few minutes later, the England captain opened the scoring for his side in the 64th minute.

Wolves had no answer for Spurs’ attack and couldn’t come up with a counterattack lethal enough to pull one goal back.

The match ended at 1-0 in Tottenham’s favour.

With this victory and 3 points, Tottenham moves to the top of the table with 7 points to their name from 3 games.
