Graham Potter’s Chelsea gets demolished 4-1 by his former club Brighton & Hove Albion

It was gameweek 14 in the Premier League and Brighton had hosted the Premier League giants Chelsea Football club at the Amex stadium. Now this game was all about the return of Graham Potter at his former club and everyone in the footballing world were unsure of the result that could happen in this match.

Coming into this game Chelsea were unbeaten in their last 9 matches in all competitions and were surely the favourites to win this match despite the result being unpredictable.

Graham Potter suffers first defeat as Chelsea manager

Since De Zerbi was appointed as the new Brighton manager, had not even won a single game in the matches that he managed.

The new coach knew that he could cover the bad start to his season by winning game against Graham Potter’s Chelsea. It would surely send out a statement that his team is back. And that is what his side exactly did by thrashing Chelsea 4-1.

It did not take long as Trossard scored for his club at the 5th-minute mark and De Zerbi’s men took the lead against the mighty Chelsea. And the scoring did not stop there cause courtesy of 2 own goals for Chelsea, took Brighton 3-0 at half time.

In the second half, Havertz scored the first goal within 5 minutes and that really woke Seagulls up and then they showed one of the best defensive performances of all time. They held a brilliant Chelsea attack until the end and they even scored at the last minute to finish the game off. All in all, it was a fantastic match.

This will be a game to remember for Graham Potter. As well as a reality check on the vitals of his Chelsea team. This first defeat will make him think long and hard about the upcoming fixture next week against table topper Arsenal.
