Fulham sign Raul Jimenez from Wolves for £5 million

Fulham sign Mexico striker Raul Jimenez from fellow Premier League side Wolves for a fixed fee of £5.5 million. He will sign a two-year contract with Fulham.

Jimenez spent five years at the Molineux following a club record £30 million move from Benfica. Since then, he has scored 57 goals in 166 games.

The Mexican never rediscovered his goalscoring touch after a nine-month spell out due to a fractured skull suffered in a horrific clash with Arsenal defender David Luiz in 2020.

Moreover, before the injury, he had scored 34 goals in 86 Premier League games for Wolves, but after that he only netted six goals in 49 games.

Jimenez’ first words after becoming new Wolves player

Jimenez said: “It’s really important for me to arrive here. I will try to do my best for the team, one of the most iconic teams in the Premier League.

“I’m happy to be here and to play in this stadium, it’s a really good stadium, I like it here. I’m going to give my best to keep scoring goals in the Premier League.”

Fulham sign Raul Jimenez as Aleksandar Mitrovic speculation continues

The Cottagers moved for Raul Jimenez after the future of their star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic was in doubt. The Serbia international is pushing for a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. However, Fulham rejected a £25 million bid from them.

But now both clubs are on the verge of reaching an agreement for Mitrovic.

Moreover, Saudi side Al-Ahli wanted to sign thier manager Marco Silva. However, the Portuguese manager rejected a two-year deal worth €40 million from them.

Wolves have now sold several first-team players, including first team captain Ruben Neves, former skipper Conor Coady and centre-back Nathan Collins.

Due to FFP Julen Lopetegui is unable to execute even what were initially his back-up plans for the summer.
