Frankfurt vs Borussia Dortmund Match Preview: Prediction, Team News, Where to Watch, Date and Time

Borussia Dortmund will want to defeat Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday night in order to pass them and get into the top four in the Bundesliga.

Frankfurt should be confident, though, since they have won four straight games overall.

Oliver Glasner’s team has improved their prospects of making it to the Champions League round of 16 dramatically in recent weeks thanks to victories in the DFB-Pokal and top-four finishes after a shaky start to the season.

Daichi Kamada and Kolo Randal Muani’s goals against Marseille on Wednesday gave them a 2-1 victory, tying them on points with Sporting ahead of their trip to Lisbon the following week for a matchup to determine who advances to the knockout stages of Europe’s top league.

Meanwhile, domestically, Die Adler defeated Stuttgarter Kickers 2-0 last week to advance to the round of 16 of the DFB-Pokal. They will face Darmstadt at home in the new year after earning a favourable draw. Last weekend, they defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1.

That was Frankfurt’s fourth victory in their previous five league games, with their only loss coming to the relegation-threatened VfL Bochum. As a result, they moved into the Champions League qualification spots, but they must beat Dortmund on Saturday to stay there.

With only four league games between travelling to Frankfurt and next month’s World Cup in Qatar beginning, Dortmund will be determined to ensure that they head into the break in the Champions League qualification positions, while ideally keeping any points deficit to Bayern Munich to a minimum.
