France 2-0 Morocco; France becomes first-ever defending champions to reach Finals

In a spectacular unfurling of the much-anticipated semi-final clash between France and Morocco, France has utterly obliterated Morocco’s dream of becoming the first African nation to play in the World cup finals.

In this tight battle to reach the finals, France defeated the Moroccan side in a 2-0 victory, leaving the opposing side bewildered and utterly shocked. The Al Bayt Stadium saw an electrifying performance by both sides on Thursday.

With this, France has become the first-ever defending champions to reach back-to-back finals of the World Cup since Brazil did it in 2002. They are now also set to become the third team ever, and first in 60 years, to win the title in successive tournaments, in case they defeat mighty Argentina.

Hernandez, Kolo Muani score for France

France had shattered every strategy and planning made by the Moroccan side and pierced through their so-called ‘iron’ defense in merely five minutes of the match. Theo Hernandez scored a spectacularly acrobatic early goal for the French front in the 5th minute of the game, causing haywire in the opposing front.

Even after dominating the ball possession throughout the match, the Moroccan team couldn’t score a single goal, failing in multiple crucial chances roused in defending champions’ defense.

After a primarily eventful second half, the substitute Randal Kolo Muani sealed the deal for France in the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 with a late goal in the 79th minute of the game. With this, it was proven that every French player is capable of netting goals, and they don’t just depend on a selected few.

While the star striker of France, Mbappe and Giroud, were consciously marked by Moroccan defense, other French players exploited this opportunity made for them to the core, which has now stormed the defending champions in a historic grand finale.

Griezmann the trump card for France

The man of the match was much deservingly, none other than Antoine Griezmann, who switched between his attacking, defensive, and playmaking duties smoothly like butter throughout the game. He has been the key player in the French victory.

France is now all set to face the mighty Lionel Messi’s Argentina in his last dance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar. It might also prove to be a decisive battle not only amidst who lifts the trophy but also who takes the Golden Boot.

Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi have 5 goals each in this tournament; Mbappe scored more goals without penalties than Messi.
