Don’t let yourself get caught up in the moment: Graham Reid advice Indian team ahead of FIh World Cup 2023

The Indian Hockey team is all set to take on the world. And with less than three weeks to go, the head coach of the team has come up with an apt advice for his team.

The Advice provided by Reid is more like a warning for not getting caught up in a moment. According to the former Australian player, his team should not worry about conceding goals. Or get caught up in a moment if they do so, and should always move on.

India is all set to open its World Cup campaign against Spain on the 13th of January 2023. But before the game, coach has announced his wisdom words.

Wisdom words by Graham Reid

“You sort of get caught up in the moment when you play an event of this magnitude (World Cup). Don’t let yourself get caught up in the moment. It could get quite daunting when you lose the ball, or concede a goal,” said Reid, who was part of the Australian side during the 1990 World Cup in Lahore.

Reid is an extremely experienced campaigner at the top tier of Hockey. Hence, he is very much aware of the ways in which players can sometimes get caught in a moment. Therefore, he has advised his player to not stay in a moment, whether good or bad.

When asked about who would win the tournament according to him, the coach gave a very diplomatic answer. He said, “It is so difficult to pick a team. If I think about it today, I could pick Australia, Belgium and India, and tomorrow I could come back with Netherlands, Germany and India.”

The Indian team is in the group D of the world cup along side England, Spain, and Wales. This might well be the group of death in the 16-team competition. And India will open their campaign against Spain in the newly built Birsa Munda International Stadium in Rourkela.
