Derby County’s Krystian Bielik Hospitalised After Getting Kicked in the Face

Krystian Bielik, a Derby County star playing for loan club Birmingham City, was taken to hospital for the second match running after getting kicked in the face during a Championship match against Rotherham on Saturday. Bielik had been stretchered off in February while playing against Huddersfield Town, and Saturday’s game against Rotherham marked his first appearance since that match.

However, the Polish international suffered another bout of bad luck when he was forced to leave the pitch 30 minutes into Birmingham’s 2-0 win over Rotherham at St Andrew’s after getting kicked in the face by Hakeem Odoffin.

Eustace’s Post-Match Update

Blues boss John Eustace informed reporters after the match that “Krys two front teeth got kicked out. He’s in a bad old way. He has gone to hospital now. But I think you could see for the first 25 to 30 minutes of the game how vital he is for us in there.”

Eustace added, “His performance at the start of the game was top, and he has been missing for the last three or four games. Hopefully, it’s not too bad an injury, and we can get him back for Tuesday.” Birmingham is scheduled to play against Watford on Tuesday.

Bielik was loaned to the Championship club in the summer after then-Poland manager Czesław Michniewicz told him he would not be considered for the 2022 World Cup if he was playing in League One. Bielik was selected for his country during the tournament in Qatar and has also made 27 appearances for Birmingham this season.

Concerns Over Bielik’s Condition

Birmingham City’s win over Rotherham was overshadowed by concerns about Bielik’s condition. It remains to be seen how long the midfielder will be out, but the loss of his crucial presence in the team is a concern for Blues manager Lee Bowyer, who is hoping for a quick return.

Injuries are a constant risk in professional football, and while some players are fortunate to avoid major harm, others, like Bielik, are not so lucky. The 25-year-old will receive the best medical attention and hopes to return to the pitch as soon as possible.
