Christopher Nkunku joins Chelsea from RB Leipzig

France forward Christopher Nkunku joins Chelsea from RB Leipzig for £53 million. Nkunku will sign a six-year contract with Chelsea.

His move to the Stamford Bridge was already confirmed by many journalists over the past year. He reportedly passed his medical in December.

However, Chelsea had to wait for the season to end to trigger his £53 million release clause. But now, the transfer has been official.

Nkunku has signed a six-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2029. He has ended his blistering four-year stay at RB Leipzig.

Chelsea released a statement in which Nkunku said, “I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea. A big effort was made to bring me to the club, and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch.

Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge, and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt.”

Christopher Nkunku joins Chelsea on a six-year deal

The 25-year-old started his career at PSG in 2015, but left them after four years. He was not getting enough gametime, so he decided to join RB Leipzig.

The Frenchman has scored 70 goals and has 56 assists in 172 appearances for the Bundesliga side. He also won two DFB Pokal with Leipzig.

Nkunku has ten appearances for his national side, the latest one coming from bench in Euro 2024 qualifiers against Greece.

Mason Mount and Kai Havertz ready to leave Chelsea

Chelsea are looking to clear out the deadwood from their squad, and they will sign more players after Nkunku.

Mason Mount is also looking to leave the club this summer, and Kai Havertz is also looking to join Arsenal. However, the Blues have already signed Nkunku and will look to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

Villareal forward Nicolas Jackson is also looking to join Chelsea. Pochettino will look to overhaul his squad after a disappointed season.
