Chelsea to begin talks with French striker Marcus Thuram

According to widespread reports in the English media, Chelsea football club have begun talks to sign the French forward Marcus Thuram who is also a target of their arch-rivals Manchester United. Chelsea have had a busy January transfer window as they have already signed the likes of Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos, and they also heavily linked with Benfica and Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez and now they have another target in mind in the form of Marcus.

Thuram’s contract at his Borussia Monchengladbach expires at the end of this season and it is widely reported he is not planning on extending the deal cause he wants to move to a bigger club and compete for the Champions League.

Thuram is the answer to Chelsea’s attacking problems

Hence, the German side could be forced to sell him on a cheap price in order to get some funds from him instead of letting him leave for free. And because of this, it is assumed that Marcus could be sold for anywhere around 15 Million Euros.

Marcus surely has the clinical ability that Chelsea needs they are currently the lowest scorers in the top 10 and Thuram is having one of his best seasons as he is the second-highest scorer in Bundesliga with 10 goals and in all competitions, he has scored a total of 13 goals. But to convince him to join Stamford Bridge would be a bit difficult as he wants to play in the Champions League and the Blues are currently 10th in the table with UCL qualification unlikely. However, it still cannot be ruled out and a call from Graham Potter might change his decision, hence it would be interesting to see how this situation develops.
