Chelsea officially complete signing of David Fofana; know details

Chelsea football club have officially confirmed the signing of David Fofana as they have reached an agreement with the Norwegian side Molde for a transfer fee of around 9 Million Euros.

The 20-year-old Ivorian has signed a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge as it will keep him until 2029, with the option to extend it for another year.

Fofana is the third winter signing for the Blues as he’ll join the likes of Benoit Badiashile and Andrey Santos. In the official announcement the club said, “The Ivorian’s combination of pace, skill and strength make him a versatile striker, capable of scoring goals but especially adept at holding up the ball and retaining possession under pressure,”

Chelsea investing in youth

The striker who recently made his first start for his national team Ivory Coast has been simply terrific at club level too. This is because he has scored 24 goals and has managed to provide 10 assists in 65 games for his team Molde.

After his announcement, he said,  “Hello dear fans, I’m here, I’ve arrived well and I’m very happy to sign for the club of my dreams. I’ll see you soon on the pitch.” Fofana has ended the 2022 Eliteserien season with 15 goals and five assists from 24 matches, and he has also managed score two goals in four matches in the Europa Conference League.

Chelsea are in Sunday’s FA Cup third-round match against the giants and their arch-rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. This is just three days after suffering a 1-0 League defeat to the defending PL champions.

These 3 winter signings will surely help Graham Potter in their squad depth given the never-ending list of injured players which includes Sterling, Pulisic, Reece James, Edouard Mendy and many more. And these players also have the opportunity to ace it in the PL and cement their spot in the lineup while the other are injured.
