Former Dutch champions Ajax, whose meteoric rise through the ranks of Europe started with a semifinal run few years back which boasted of De Ligt and De Jong, currently sit in the penultimate spot in Eredivisie, had decided to ‘park their bus’ until a Mitoma magical moment decided to make further inroads in the game.

The moment got sweeter when Ansu Fati scored the second, thus acting as an icing on the cake for the home supporters, which led De Zerbi to say at the end of the game, “We played a great game, we played very well. We deserved to win, maybe with more goals, but the most important news is that we didn’t concede a goal.”
