Brighton 2-0 Ajax: Premier League giants reign supreme over Dutch side as Pedro and Fati gets on scoresheet

In latest football news, Brighton and Hove Albion has enjoyed the European top light success after they have defeated Dutch strugglers Ajax by 2-0, as Joao Pedro and FC Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati were on target for the Seagulls. With this victory, the Premier League side stays on third position in Group B, behind Marseille and Athens.

Brighton overcomes Dutch might

Brighton has been one of the consistent teams since last season. Owing to the likes of Kauru Mitoma and the latest inclusions of Ansu Fati and Evan Ferguson, coupled with the strict vigil of Robert De Zerbi, the Seagulls have wreaked havoc in the Premier League roster last season with their strength.

Due to their inexplicable results last season, they have earned a well-deserved European qualification and last night, they had rewarded their fans with a first European top flight victory against Dutch giants Ajax, who are suffering from an all-time low this season.

They had lost their opening game against AEK Athens, before settling for a stalemate against Marseille. At Amex Stadium, they tasted their initial success at the top after they breezed past Ajax, as Joao Pedro and Ansu Fati scored their goals to secure a comfortable win over their European veteran opponents.

“Great Day”

Brighton boss Robert De Zerbi was elated with the result of yesterday’s game. He was heard saying, “We have got the first victory in Europe for Brighton. It is a great day for our fans, our club, our owner and we are very proud to give them this day.”

Joao Pedro struck his fourth goal in Europa League, when he was seen parrying a swift shot past Ajax custodian Diant Ramaj, after Mitoma’s strike was thwarted by the German keeper. After the break, it was a sweet taste of scoring as Ansu Fati opened his scoring account for the Seagulls in the Europa League as Adingra’s superb ball fell in front of the Barca loanee, who showcased his attacking prowess in scoring the second of the night, with his blasting shot went in to the far corner of the net.

The atmosphere at the Amex Stadium was glazing with Brighton supporters cheering for their team with their scarves, but were soon seen shifting to focus mode as the game went underway. Former Dutch champions Ajax, whose meteoric rise through the ranks of Europe started with a semifinal run few years back which boasted of De Ligt and De Jong, currently sit in the penultimate spot in Eredivisie, had decided to ‘park their bus’ until a Mitoma magical moment decided to make further inroads in the game.

The moment got sweeter when Ansu Fati scored the second, thus acting as an icing on the cake for the home supporters, which led De Zerbi to say at the end of the game, “We played a great game, we played very well. We deserved to win, maybe with more goals, but the most important news is that we didn’t concede a goal.”
