BCCI intends to travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup

The BCCI hopes to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup tournament in 2023.

According to reports, the BCCI will make strides toward having India travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in the second half of 2023.

The tournament’s recent runners-up will host a 50-over Asia Cup tournament shortly after the World Cup concludes. In 2022, India will host the ICC World Cup, and Pakistan will participate.

India will visit Pakistan for the first time in over 14 years, having not visited the country since the 2008 Asia Cup. It has yet to be made official because clearance from the Indian government is required.

BCCI gives nod to travel to Pakistan if Gov approves

When contacted, BCCI officials were hesitant to take a position, although it is worth noting that Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, also serves as the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). “As always, everything will be subject to the approval of the Government of India,” a BCCI official stated, repeating the organization’s position. There is always the possibility of hosting the event in the UAE, as was done for this year’s Asia Cup, but the BCCI note appears to indicate otherwise.

A BCCI memo distributed to state associations on Thursday ahead of the October 18 Annual General Meeting (AGM) details India’s participation in next year’s global events:

In 2023, there will be major ICC/multi-nation events.

The Indian team will be participating in the following ICC events in 2023

  • ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, South Africa
  • ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup, South Africa
  • Asia Cup, Pakistan
  • ICC Cricket World Cup, India
