Yesterday several news and reports on Internet claimed Deepak Chahar’s injury ahead of the Asia Cup. Following this, he was replaced by Kuldeep Sen of Rajasthan Royals.

However, BCCI has scrapped all these reports and called them rubbish. Instead, they have cleared the air about Deepak Chahar’s fitness. And also threw some light on Kuldeep Sen’s role in the team.

Several reports on the Internet claimed that Deepak Chahar had picked up an injury. This happened after the Zimbabwe series, according to intent. And the bowler was no longer supposed to be a part of the stand-by players, including Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel.

As a result of this injury, Madhya Pradesh’s express bowler was called by BCCI to be a part of the team.

BCCI on Deepak Chahar’s role

On Friday, the Board for Control of cricket in India revealed that it was not the case. “It’s absolutely rubbish. He is still with the team in Dubai. Deepak joined the practice yesterday and will continue to do so today. He is absolutely fine. Kuldeep has joined as a net bowler. He is a fine talent but not as a full-time option,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

This means there are chances of Deepak Chahar being a part of the Indian team. For now, he is a part of the stand-by squad, as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, and Avesh Khan are named as frontline bowlers.

And after the great comeback performance against Zimbabwe, it is more than likely that he will secure a place in the team soon.

As things stand, he will be a part of the stand-bys, while Kuldeep Sen will be a part of the team as a net bowler. He impressed everyone with his great performance in the 2022 edition of IPL. He picked 8 wickets in just 7 matches. And bowled at an express quick pace that caught everyone’s attention.

Hence this will be a learning opportunity for Kuldeep Sen as well. He will get to work with the best coaches and players in the Indian team.
