BBL 12: Steve Smith continues his run reign for Sixers, Scores a brilliant 66 off just 33 vs Hobart Hurricanes

Finally after a dry patch in T20s, Steve Smith looks to get back on track as he continues his run reign in the ongoing edition of Big Bash League. Smith blasted 66 from just 33 balls, including four fours and six sixes, but fell short of a third straight ton, after being trapped lbw by a Nathan Ellis full toss. However, Australian cricketer slammed the fastest fifty of his T20 career. The 33-year-old took 22 deliveries to reach his half-century.

Earlier Smith was dropped in the fifth over off Riley Meredith and the ball was spilt over the rope for six in a costly blunder from the Hurricanes.

Smith smashed three fours and five sixes on his half century to take him to the leaderboard for most sixes in the tournament with 24. Despite playing just four games, with the next best player Matt Short on 18 maximums. Moreover, in his innings of 66, Smith striked the ball at a rate of 200.

However, the Sixers lost 5-34 after Smith got out, but an unlikely 30 from 14 balls from Ben Dwarshuis saw them set a tough total for the Hurricanes to chase.

The Sixers made 7-180 from their 20 overs after being sent in by the Hurricanes at Blundstone Arena, with Steve Smith (66) and Ben Dwarshuis (30) starring for the visitors.
