Bayern Munich’s Marcel Sabitzer to join Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund wants to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer. Dortmund are ready to pay €19 million including bonuses for the Austrian.

Sabitzer will sign a five year deal until 2027 with Dortmund. The deal is about to be completed in the next 48 hours. Last season, the midfielder joined Manchester United on a six month loan deal.

Moreover, Sabitzer wanted a move to England or Italy, but Dortmund remained persistent on their efforts to sign the 29-year-old midfielder.

Sabitzer was also present at Bayern Munich’s team presentation on Sunday. But he left the Allianz Arena while the presentation was ongoing. When asked why he was leaving, Sabitzer said: “You have your sources, right?”

After some good displays with Man United last season, Sabitzer was likely to make his loan move permanent to the Premier League giants.

However, it looks like United have not entered the race to sign him, and he is now ready to join Dortmund.

The Austrian midfielder played his part in United’s strong end to the last campaign. He helped them to win the Carabao Cup, reach the FA Cup final and secure a place in next season’s Champions League through an impressive third place finish in the Premier League.

His improvised finish in the FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham proved to be the highlight of his time at the club as he gained the respect of the Old Trafford faithful.

Sabitzer played 18 games under Erik ten Hag, and scored three goals and assisted one in all competitions.

He Bayern Munich in 2021 from RB Leipzig for a fee of €15 million. The Austrian played 54 games in all competitions, scoring two and creating a further two.

He will now become the latest player to arrive at Borussia Dortmund following the signings of Ramy Bensebaini and Felix Nmecha.
