Barcelona’s Clement Lenglet to join Tottenham Hotspurs Permanently

French centre-back Clement Lenglet is close to joining Tottenham Hotspur from Barcelona on a permanent transfer.

Barcelona are desperate to sell the deadwood players of their squad to increase the wage bill margin. With this being the problem for almost three years, other sides can almost always afford to wait out the Blaugrana and hope that they lower their demands as deadlines near.

A similar case appears in the Clement Lenglet deal as well. The Frenchman joined Spurs on loan last season and had a good season playing in a back-three.

Spurs offer €5 million for the Centre back

However, he is not considered world-class, and Barcelona wants to get rid of him as Xavi does not count on him. Moreover, Spurs are pressuring Barca to accept their offer of €5 million for the 27-year-old centre-back.

Barca are aiming to get at least €10-12 million for Lenglet. But, Spurs are only offering €5 million for him.

Clement Lenglet is close to joining Tottenham, Umtiti, Dest, and Collado will also leave Barcelona

If Barcelona does sell Lenglet, his huge wages will be removed, which are around €16 million per year. Spurs are not in a rush to complete this deal.

Barcelona are prepared to sell more players along with Clement Lenglet, like Gustavo Maia, Samuel Umtiti, Sergino Dest, and Collado. The combined cost of the five will exceed €50 million for Barca in the wage cap for the upcoming season.

According to reports, Lenglet, Umtiti and Collado will be sold before 30 June.

Tottenham force Barca to accept less money for Clement Lenglet

Lenglet’s salary are making the negotiations slow for Barcelona. However, Spurs are ready to offer him a five-year deal. It remains to be seen if Barca accept their offer or not.

Given their priority to remove Lenglet from their massive wage bill, they might be willing to sell him for less money.
