Barcelona No. 10 Ansu Fati close to joining Brighton on loan

Talented Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati is close to joining Brighton and Hove Albion on a loan deal until 2024. The Seagulls have swooped in a last minute transfer after Fati was ready to join Tottenham Hotspurs.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is a big fan of Ansu Fati, and wants him in his team for next season. Furthermore, Xavi has not given much minutes to the Spaniard, and that’s why a loan move may be the best option for both sides.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Brighton will also cover Ansu Fati’s 70-75% salary. The deal could be officially sealed in a day or two as Prem club wants to sign him quickly.

Tottenham were the frontrunners at first, but after Brighton made contacts with Fati, he decided to join them.

Ansu Fati ready to leave Barcelona on loan until 2024

Fati had his breakthrough from La Masia when he was just 16 in 2019. He played with superstars like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez few years ago.

After making his debut, Fati was scoring goals for fun and was looking like the one to replace Messi in the near future. However, an injury against Real Betis in 2020 changed everything for the youngster.

The winger has gone through a series of knee injuries that have hampered his confidence in the past two years. Fati made 51 appearances last season, mainly from the bench, and ended up scoring ten goals last season.

Furthermore, he was the second top scorer behind Robert Lewandowski. A move to Brighton seems brilliant for Fati, as he will get enough game time to return to his best form.

The better side of this story is that he gets to work with a brilliant coach in De Zerbi, who will surely help him to regain his form back. Fati will now compete for a starting spot against Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma.

Furthermore, Barca may sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on a simple loan deal to replace Fati.
