Barcelona 3-0 Sevilla; Alba, Gavi, Raphinha score to take Barca 8 points clear on top of La Liga table

In an electrifying performance from FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou earlier against Sevilla, Barcelona achieved an utterly dominating victory of 3-0 and successfully maintain a clean sheet.

Barcelona eight points ahead of Real Madrid

Barcelona are currently the table toppers of La Liga table and with this win they have expanded the point gap to an eight-point difference, while Sevilla, who finished fourth last season, found themselves in the 16^th position battling to stay in the league.

Barcelona went into the game very confident having won last fourteen encounters against Sevilla. And exactly that unfolded in the Camp Nou earlier where the two teams from two spectrums of the league table met, Barcelona utterly demolished any attempts from the struggling Sevilla.

Barcelona dominated even on statistical frontiers while keeping much of the ball possession. The first half of the match saw multiple attempts from Barcelona to score, which were stopped on every occasion very precisely by Sevilla goalkeeper Bono.

Gavi, Alba, Raphinha goals beat Sevilla

Robert Lewandowski had many missed chances throughout the game, where he could have lodged himself him the scoresheet in more than occasion, but failed in making that winning finish in each of his attempts.

Finally in the second half after shattering the Sevilla defense, it was Jordi Alba who scored the opening goal for Barcelona at the 58^th minute of the match.

It was only the beginning of the doom of Sevilla’s defense, because Barcelona’s lead was doubled by none other than the wonderkid Pablo Gavi at the 70^th minute with an excellent shot.

Finally the winning goal that sealed the deal for Barcelona and put Sevilla at a point of no return was scored by Raphinha at the79th minute of the game. Despite the desperate attempts from Sevilla to score once, forcing a sharp save out of Ter Stegen in the final moments, Barca took the 3 points.

Barcelona Leading the Charge

Real Madrid lost earlier in the day against Mallorca in a cagey encounter. It was just a 1-0 loss, but it dented the Title Defense immensely.

Barcelona were already leading the group with 5 points clear at the start of the weekly matches. And the loss to Madrid gave them a chance to extend their lead. The Blaugranes didn’t miss out on that opportunity.

Now they stand 8 points clear on top of the table. Barcelona have 58 points from 20 games to their name. They have won 17 games in total this season and drawn 2 while losing just 1 game against Real Madrid.

So, it will be interesting to see if they manage to lift the title unopposed or will there be a twist in the tale as we enter the latter end of the competition.
