Joburg Super Kings (JSK) captain Faf du Plessis unleashed an innings for the ages. The 38-year-old hit a match winning 113* off just 54 balls and became the first centurion of SA20.
Stitching a wonderful 157-run partnership with Reeza Hendricks, he powered his side to a win over Durban’s Super Giants. Du Plessis hit a maximum to see his side over the line on 182-2 with five balls to spare.

Skipper to the rescue for Joburg Super Kings
Chasing a challenging total of 179, it was a one-man show that catapulted the Super Kings to their second home win at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. With opening partner Reeza Hendricks going at a strike rate of 97.8 at the other end, the skipper had to take the risk of upping the scoring rate all by himself.
Joburg for long periods seemed to be struggling to keep up with the required run rate, at one stage 97 without loss after 13 overs, with both batters visibly frustrated and the likes of Leus du Plooy and Donovan Ferreira sat in the dugout fearing the worst.
But the match hinged on the fifteenth over, bowled by Hardus Viljoen – du Plessis’ brother-in-law, ironically – in which du Plessis showed no mercy, slapping three successive sixes and taking 21 from the set as all momentum shifted.
Twitter Reacts to the Captivating Century from Faf du Plessis
Fans were left in awe of his masterclass and expressed their amazement on Twitter. While most reactions were from fans of JSK and their sister franchise from Chennai, fans of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), whom Du Plessis captains in the IPL, were also filled with hope.
