Alexander Zverev targets Davis Cup return; says hopes to play in US Open

Alexander Zverev of Germany gives his fans a glimmer of hope by stating that he might make an earlier recovery than he expected to play the US Open this year.

The 25-year-old suffered an ankle injury during a tough tussle against Nadal in the Roland Garros Semifinal. He tore his ligament and was forced to leave the court. Following this, he went through several surgeries. And was given a return date that dated to Davis Cup next year.

Alexander Zverev hopeful of US Open return

Germany takes on France, Belgium, and Australia in the Group C of the Davis Cup in September. Zverev might be a part of the tournament. Although to what capacity is not clarified as yet.  If they happen to progress, then the knockout stages shall be played in Malaga in November.

Alexander Averev, however, feels that he can make a faster recovery than expected. On Thursday, he opened up about his comeback and said, “of course, I will still try to make the US Open although it is very very close… every day it gets a lot better. That’s why I don’t want to say that I’m not playing in the US Open.”

Fans hope to see their favourite player in action at the year’s final grand slam.
