Al-Ittihad to go all out to sign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool in final weeks of Transfer Window

Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at St James Park yesterday could prove to be the final game for star player Mohamed Salah. The Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad have been linked with the Egyptian attacker and are reportedly preparing a mega offer to tempt the Liverpool winger away from Merseyside.

Al-Ittihad prepared to Sign Mohammed Salah from Liverpool

Al-Ittihad are ready to test Liverpool’s insistence that Mohamed Salah is not for sale this week with a package worth €150 million for the 31-year-old, are reportedly offering a staggering three year contract worth 65 million pounds per year to the player. As the income in Saudi Arabia is tax free, Mohammed Salah would be earning a whopping weekly wage of 1.25 million pounds.

Since the takeover of Al-Ittihad by Saudi Arabia’s PIF, they along with fellow Saudi Arabian clubs Al Hilal and Al Nasser have attracted players from across world to join Saudi Pro League. Al-Ittihad are already the reigning champions of the Saudi Pro League with coach Nuno Espírito Santo at the helm. They have made star studded signings this transfer window like Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, French World Cup winner N Golo Kante and talented winger Jota.

LIVERPOOL’S STANCE on Salah Situation

The Saudi Arabian transfer window recently had been extended by three weeks which means that they can buy players till 20th September. But with the European market ending on 31st August it seems highly unlikely that Liverpool would sell their star player who has scored 187 times for the club without finding a suitable replacement.

“Mo Salah is a Liverpool player and essential for everything we do,” said manager Jurgen Klopp on Friday. “If there would be something, the answer would be no. My life philosophy is I think about a problem when I have it, and there is absolutely nothing at the moment.”

The stance of Liverpool seems pretty clear that they do not need to sell Mo Salah and will keep him for the 2023/2024 season. Earlier in the window Ramy Abbas the agent of Salah commented on the situation and claimed that “if we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”

That new contract runs for a further two years and made Salah the best paid player in Liverpool’s history. Hence it seems clear that if Al-Ittihad want Mohammed Salah to be their next marquee signing they would have to break the bank.
