Al-Hilal sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic for €40 million from Lazio

Al-Hilal sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio for a fee of €40 million. His signing is their third big singing of this summer.

During his time at Lazio, several clubs from Premier League and the likes of Inter and Milan have tried to sign him. However, Lazio rated their midfielder highly and asked for over €100 million in every window.

Milinkovic-Savic leaves Lazio after 8 years

The 28-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year deal and will earn €20 million per year with the SPL club. He will leave Italian club Lazio after eight years. During his time at Lazio he scored 69 goals and provided 59 assists in over 340 appearances for the club.

The Serbian midfielder also helped Lazio qualify for the Champions League, first time since 2020. He scored nine goals and provided eight assists for them last season. Furthermore, he has also won the Coppa Italia in 2019/2020 season.

Al-Hilal have won a record four Asian Champions Leagues and 18 Saudi titles. However, they only finished third last season. They have also re-appointed former Benfica boss Jorge Jesus, who took over as their new manager this summer.

The Serbian midfielder has flourished into an exceptionally effective advanced playmaker. That is the reason several European clubs were willing to sign him for big money.

Moreover, his skill set allows him to dominate the field from both penalty boxes, showcasing his physical prowess and astute tactical understanding.

Milinkovic-Savic joins Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly at Al-Hilal

Milinkovic-Savic will team up with ex-Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly and former Wolves star Ruben Neves, who joined the Saudi side this summer.

Al-Hilal spent €55 million to sign Wolves captain Ruben Neves and a reported €23 million on Chelsea centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

Milinkovic-Savic may not be the final player to join Al-Hilal, they will target more players from Europe as they look to win every possible trophy this summer.
