AC Milan sign Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal

AC Milan sign Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal for a fee of €20 million plus a further €8m in add-ons. The tricky winger will sign a contract until 2028.

Milan signs 24-year-old ‘tricky’ winger from La Liga

The 24-year-old Nigerian international had one of his best seasons at Villarreal to date last time out. He scored 13 goals and assisted another eleven in all competitions.

Chukwueze is a player with quick feet and is one of the best players to take defenders one-on-one. Moreover, he is more than a perfect replacement for departing Brahim Diaz, who has returned to Real Madrid after a three-year loan spell in Milan.

The Nigerian becomes the seventh player to join Milan this summer. They have already signed Noah Okafor, Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic, Luka Romero, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Marco Sportiello.

After selling Sandro Tonali for €70 million to Newcastle United, the Rossoneri have been active in the market to reinforce their team.

AC Milan sign Samuel Chukwueze to reinforce their attack

With the addition of Chukwueze, the Rossoneri won’t be short of wingers this time. Last season, Rafael Leao was the only player in the attack that was threatening for them.

Moreover, his injury in the later stages of the season cost Milan a berth in the Champions League final. The Rossoneri were unable to beat city rivals Inter in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

However, for next season, they have already signed Christian Pulisic, who is more than capable to play in this Milan set-up. And with Chukwueze’s singing, Milan will look dangerous in attack.

Milan finished fourth last season in the Serie A, but they have bolstered their squad significantly as they look to win their second Serie A title in three years. The seven-time UCL winners will also compete in the Champions League next season.

AC Milan’s pre-season tour

The Rossoneri kicked off pre-season duty with a 7-0 thrashing of fourth-tier side Lumezzane. However, they suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against Real Madrid.

Milan also faced Juventus, which ended 2-2, but Juve won the game in penalties. Their 2023/24 Serie A campaign will begin with a clash against Bologna on August 21.
