On Day 1 of the second Test match against England in Multan, Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed made a remarkable debut and more. The ‘mystery spinner’ threw the famous England batting order for a loop. He became the first Pakistani cricketer to collect a five-wicket haul in his Test debut, finishing with 7 for 114 as England were bowled out for 281 in their first innings after deciding to bat first.

The majority of Abrar’s wicket-taking deliveries were phenomenal, but the two googlies he bowled to Zak Crawley and Ben Stokes were standouts. The 24-year-old began his Test career by dismissing England opener Zak Crawley in the opening over. Before lunch, Abrar took four wickets of Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Ollie Pope, and Harry Brook to seal an unprecedented five-wicket haul.

England captain Ben Stokes (30) and Will Jacks (31) added 61 runs but Abrar Ahmed came up with another beauty of a delivery to leave Stokes shell-shocked.

England were bowled out for 281 as the debutant ended on a 7-fer and a fellow leggie cleaned up the tail. Pakistan are two down at stumps with 107 on the board, with skipper Babar Azam and Shakeel still undefeated.

England leads the three-match test series 1-0 after a marathon victory in the first test. Pakistan is still trailing by 174 runs, and they would like to reduce the deficit and put England on the back foot.
