Daniil Medvedev is one of the most entertaining tennis players of recent times. And he proves the same once again by performing a victory dance after his win over Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The event took place in the semifinals of the Italian open where the two modern greats squared off in a lengthy and rain marred match. Medvedev eventually came on top of his adversary beating the Greek by 2-0 margin.

The Russian remembered the sent off he had received from Tsitsipas in 2022 Cincinnati event. And hence he decided to return the favor in a more advanced manner.

What resulted next was an amazing dance sent off to the Greek player who had lost the game by barest yet out right margins.

Daniil Medvedev beats Stefanos Tsitsipas 2-0 to reach final

It was a hard-fought match for both the parties. In the first set they went neck to neck. Although it was the Russian who had an early lead, Tsitsipas made a comeback to make it 5-5 after trailing 4-2.

The game went to 7th set and it was won comfortably by Daniil Medvedev.

Story of the second set was not too much different. Once again there was a lead against the Russian’s name as he led with 3-1 and then bottled it for the set to be tied at 5-5.

The next two points again were almost uncontested. In the sixth game, Tsitsipas could only muster one point and Medvedev won by 40-15. Repeating the story in the 7th and final game, the former world number 1 reserved himself a berth in the final of Rome.

This will be the first clay final for Daniil Medvedev. The last time he was in the final of a clay court tournament dates back to 2019 in Barcelona. Hence, with the French Open looming around the corner, he will be looking to win this tournament.

A win in this tournament will not only give him confidence heading into the Roland Garoos, but will also make him a competitor for 2nd ranking against Novak Djokovic.

The Russian will not want to get ahead of himself. He will play Holger Rune in final on Sunday.
