FC Barcelona has got a new kid on their block, as Vitor Roque joins the Spanish defending champions with eyes set on several trophies which he has spoken about in his first interview with the Spanish giants. Nicknamed “Tigrinho”, the 18-year old former Atletico Paranaense star has opened up about his aims on club’s official website, with his target set for bigger achievements.

Vitor Roque to Barcelona- the Brazilian legacy

Brazilian youngsters and FC Barcelona seems to have a camaraderie since ages, with several stars coming on the block for the Catalan giants since years. It all started with Ronaldinho, the former AC Milan and Barcelona legend who started the corridor between Brazil and the Catalan giants, followed by Neymar, who went on to become one of the legendary figures for the Spanish heavyweights, etching his name among the history books with the trinity of Messi-Suarez-Neymar.

To add to the list of talented Brazilians on the deck of FC Barcelona, Vitor Roque has joined forces with the Spanish giants, trying to emulate the feat of Neymar and Ronaldinho, as the 18-year old has showcased his meteoric rise through the ranks of Brazilian team Atletico Paranaense, thus bringing high hopes with him. He has stayed at the Brazilian club, as his transfer was postponed to January owing to La Liga’s Financial Fair Play conundrum, but finally, he has been able to join Barca, with his first match slated to be against Las Palmas on 4th January.

With his addition, Xavi is set to reinforce his attacking front with Lewandowski and Raphinha on the deck, as Roque will bolster the set-up. He has started his training with his new teammates, and in his first official interview with the club, he has opened up about how his move to Barca materialized, and which players are he looking forward to play with.

Gets candid about joining Barca

Roque was heard saying about how his move to Barca came true, as he said, “I’ve been a Barca fan all my life. It was my only option. It is the best club in the world and it was always my dream to play here. Great idols like Romario and Neymar have also played for this team and they made history. It will be a pleasure to defend this shirt.”

There has been several rumors about Barca needs to protect this Brazilian gem from any unwanted pressure, but the new kid admitted about relishing any challenge which comes his way, as he said, “I’m calm. I try not to think too much, not to go any further. I just want to help the club as much as I can to win as many titles as possible.”

When asked about his dreams with the Catalan giants, he did not hesitate to speak about his wish of winning the coveted UEFA Champions League, as it is a trophy which has lured the Catalan giants for long. He said, “This one is clear to me: winning the Champions League would be my biggest dream. I really want to do things well and win as much as possible with Barca. I’m looking forward to learning and enjoying the best in the world.”

Eager to play with his new teammates

Roque has admitted about playing with his legendary teammates in the form of Lewandowski and compatriot Raphinha. He said, “Yes, of course. They’re all very good, but I’m really looking forward to playing with Lewandowski. And of course with Raphinha too. I’ll be fulfilling a dream.”

He further added about the guidance of his elder brother like figure in the form of Raphinha, who has explained him about the life at Barca, as he mentioned, “He told me everything wonderful about Barca and that it’s a fantastic club, perfect, with all the facilities to learn and work.”

Thus, it will be interesting to see whether Roque can emulate the legacy of Neymar and Ronaldinho, as he has big boots to fill in the upcoming seasons.
