FIFA World Cup

Varane and Konate are a major doubt for France in the World Cup Final

The FIFA World Cup final is tomorrow when the reigning champions France will take on the Copa America winners Argentina. France would be looking to be the first nation to defend the trophy since Brazil and Argentina would be looking to win their first World Cup after 36 years and also they would be looking to end Messi’s international career with the trophy that he desires the most.

And hence for the match, both coaches would like all their players fit for selection, but in the French camp it has been a disaster as it is widely reported in the media that center-backs Raphel Varane and Ibrahima Konate are a major doubt to play against Argentina as they are suffering from illness,

Hence, now due to many of their players getting ill like in the semi-finals against Morocco, Andrien Rabiot and Dayot Upamecano were ruled out too due to illness, the french squad have been advised to use hand sanitisers and also try to be socially distanced. But despite all these concerns, Didier Deschamps is confident that all his players would be available for selection for Sunday’s game which would be interesting cause if he rushes his player’s into the match, it would be hugely beneficial for Argentina as their opponents won’t be at a 100%.

All in all, it would be interesting to see how the situation develops and who starts for the defending champions in the final.
