United Cup: Roger Federer approves of Iga Swiatek’s amazing shot, calls it “Crazy”

An around the net shot is considered as one of the hardest shot in the game of Tennis. And when Iga Swiatek of Poland played it in her recent match, it even called for Roger Federer to praise it.

Playing in the United Cup for her national team Iga Swiatek played a fabulous shot from back hand that went around the post to give her team a crucial point in the tie breaker.

The world was left dazed after this effort as the world no. 1 shrugged off the victory as if it was nothing new for her. But everyone knew that it was one of a kind, given the circumstances. And the 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer was one of them.

Tweeting about the shot, Roger Federer wrote, “that was crazy.” This was a rection to an earlier tweet by Iga, who asked if Roger approved of the shot.

Polish star alongside her compatriot Hubert Hurkacz was on fire at the United Cup on Sunday. They took on Kazakhstani pairing Zhibek Kulambayeva and Grigoriy Lomakin.

The pair eventually went on to win the game and Poland defeated their adversaries 4-1.

Later talking about the shot Hurkacz said, “Yeah that was insane, obviously Iga was really amazing, hitting the super really hard and then carrying me throughout the whole match. So that was really nice. It’s the first of January and Iga already has the shot of the year so that’s a pretty good start.”

Swiatek was also was very pleased to play beside her partner.  “Pretty amazing. That’s the first time I’ve ever had the opportunity to play with Hubert and when he serves it’s the best feeling ever honestly. I don’t have to do anything on the volleys, I love it,” she said.
