Ryan Reynolds And Rob McElhenney Will Play for Wrexham in $1 Million US Tournament

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been recently named in the squad of AFC Wrexham in the United States for a $1 million seven-a-side tournament.

The two Hollywood actors have completed the takeover of Wrexham club earlier in February 2021.

And now are all ready to appear in a seven-a-side tournament which comprises 32 teams in total and is set to take place in June in Cary, Northern California.

Ryan Reynolds and McElhenney have both been selected as squad members by the organizers of the competition, The Soccer Tournament (TST).

Other members of the Wrexham’s initially tentative squad are Paul Rutherford, Shaun Pearson, and Mark Carrington.

The initial squad is said be coached by the player-coach David Jones. The TST founder and CEO Jon Mugar had earlier made statements that the Wrexham AFC is an incredible story which showcases the kind of experience when commitment and dedication is shown by fans, players, and owners equally.

British football and esports club, Hashtag United have apparently confirmed their participation in competition. Along with that, former Tottenham and USMNT player Clint Dempsey has been reportedly chosen to lead the team at the tournament and so has, Heather O’Reilly, ex-USWNT star.

Phil Parkinson’s squad are going to be back in play for a home game against the Dorking Wanderers on Saturday and currently stand at the second position in their National League.
