Ronaldinho’s Son Joao Mendes Joins Barcelona Following Father’s Footsteps at 17

Legendary footballer Ronaldinho’s son joined the La Liga giants, Barcelona reportedly after successfully passing a trial earlier January.

Joao de Assis Moreira, who is also known as Joao Mendes commonly, joined the Barcelona academy at the age of 17.

Ronaldinho’s son joins Barcelona

Mendes was earlier playing for the Brazilin club Cruzeiro before his contracted with the Brazilian front was terminated back in 2022 so that he could part take in his trial for Barcelona.

According to the reports from Italy, the club president Joan Laporta had previously asked Barcelona to be patient after the son of iconic Ronaldinho had failed to impress the selectors initially.

Ronaldinho is currently an ambassador at Barcelona and is being expected to increase his involvement with the Spanish club.

Ronaldinho to be involved more than ever at Barcelona

Ronaldinho was asked about his son, to which he responded that yes, he was coming now. He went on to say how Barcelona was a part of his life and he was never out of the club, saying that wherever he went, he took Barcelona with him.

Ronaldinho also expressed how he will be more present than ever at the club with the arrival of his son [Joao Mendes].

As an attacking midfielder and owing to his presence on the wing, Ronaldinho lodged his name as one of the most iconic footballers of all time, especially because of his flamboyance on the pitch.

Ronaldinho had previously taken Brazil to win the 2002 FIFA World Cup, with his world-famous free-kick against England in the quarterfinals of the tournament, and then went on to play for the Spanish giants, FC Barcelona from 2003 to 2008.

In 2005-06, Ronaldinho went on to win the highest individual award, the Ballon d’Or the same year as Barcelona won a Champions League and La Liga double.
