Richarlison to undergo surgery as Tottenham’s woes continue

Brazilian striker Richarlison has confirmed that he will undergo pelvic surgery as Tottenham’s injury woes continues.

Spurs are already without Manor Solomon, Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon due to long-term injuries. Furthermore, centre-back Micky van de Ven suffered a hamstring injury against Chelsea.

Cristian Romero will also miss the next three matches after he was sent off against Chelsea. Whereas Destiny Udogie will serve a one-match ban at Wolves next Saturday. James Maddison was substituted against the Blues with an ankle injury.

“The last few months haven’t been easy for me,” Richarlison told ESPN. “I’ve had health problems. I already spoken to the doctors, and soon I would do surgery on my pubis.

“I’ve been suffering, fighting for my national team and my club for eight months and haven’t been taking care of myself. I think it’s time to rest, to stop for a second. I’ll think about it in the next few days, and soon I will do what is best for me.”

Since moving to Tottenham from Everton in a £60 million deal in July 2022, Richarlison has scored just 2 goals in 37 appearances.

The 25-year-old is determined to get back to his best form, as he knows his qualities. The Brazilian scored 10 goals and provided five assists during his final season with Everton and would love to replicate that form for his new club.

Spurs’ unbeaten run was ended this weekend after Chelsea thrashed them 4-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were both sent off during the game, plus Maddison and Micky van de Ven suffered injuries.

The loss of Richarlison would now leave Spurs with four senior forwards in Heung-min Son, Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Bryan Gil.
