Ranji Trophy: Gallant Hanuma Vihari bats left-handed despite wrist fracture to save Andhra
Andhra Pradesh skipper Hanuma Vihari who got hurt after being struck by a bouncer from pacer Avesh Khan on Day 1 of the Ranji Trophy Quarterfinals against Madhya Pradesh has walked out to bat on day 2 despite a fractured wrist and played left-handed. Vihari displayed an example of incredible commitment towards his side.
After getting hit on Day 1 of the match and the scans had later revealed that the star batter had sustained a wrist fracture. However, the injury didn’t deter Vihari’s dedication towards the team as he came out to bat after the lost of ninth wicket in Prithvi Raj Yarra. Moreover, Vihari – who is a right-handed batter – batted left-handed to ensure his wrist remains protected.
Hanuma Vihari Displayed Nerves of Steal to save the day for Andhra
After the lunch break on Day 2, the AP side stood at 379/9 at the end of 127 overs. Skipper Hanuma Vihari was unbeaten at 27 and has hit two boundaries after coming to bat at 11. The AP side was greatly dominant on the first day of the match as they scored 262 runs for the loss of only 2 wickets. However, the defending champions Madhya Pradesh staged a comeback on Day 2. Wicket-keeper Ricky Bhui is the highest scorer for the side currently, with 149 runs, while Kirdant Karan Shinde is the second-highest scorer with 110 runs.
