Rahkeem Cornwall, born on February 1, 1993, is a cricketer from Antigua. He bowls right-arm off-break. He has played for the Leeward Islands cricket team and the Antigua Hawksbills in the Caribbean Premier League. In August 2019, he was named the Championship Player of the Year by Cricket West Indies. He made his international debut for the West Indies cricket team the same month. Cornwall holds the record for being the heaviest cricketer to play Test cricket, weighing over 140 kg. He’s a top wicket-taker for the Leeward Islands in both First Class and List A cricket and has scored four List A hundred.

Background

Cornwall, born in Liberta, Antigua, followed his uncle Wilden Cornwall into cricket. He played well for West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI against India and England, also impressing for West Indies A. Cornwall played for Leeward Islands, excelling in regional competitions. He joined St Lucia Stars in the CPL, showing promise despite injuries. Cornwall became a key player for Leeward Islands in Super50 and Four Day tournaments. He debuted for West Indies in 2019, known for his weight. Cornwall continued playing in CPL for St Lucia Zouks and joined Minor League Cricket in the USA. He excelled in the 2022–23 West Indies Championship as the top wicket-taker.

In 2016, he debuted for West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI, scoring 41 runs and taking 5 wickets against India. His 2017 performances included a crucial 59-run partnership against England. In 2019, he made his Test debut against India and became known as the heaviest Test cricketer. His achievements continued with notable performances in the Regional Super50 and Tests, including a five-wicket haul against Afghanistan. Cornwall’s career extended to leagues like the Caribbean Premier League and Minor League Cricket, where he showcased his talent. He remains a prominent figure in West Indian cricket, exemplifying skill and versatility, as the highest wicket-taker in the 2022–23 West Indies Championship.
