Players use injection to prove fitness: Chetan Sharma makes shocking admission

The chairman of Indian Cricket Team’s selector has made a shocking admission about his own players. In a recently conducted sting operation by Zee News, Chetan Sharma has admitted about Indian players taking injections to prove fitness.

We all know that the last few years have not been good for Indian cricket. There have reoccurring injuries to main players like Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar and many like them. And according to Chetan sharma these players were never 100% fit or match ready.

Chetan Sharma talks about players taking injections

“The players are not fit but they take injections to play. They are ready to play even at 80 per cent fitness. They take injections and start playing,” Sharma said in the sting operation video on Zee News channel.

When asked about the nature of injections, if they were painkillers, the chief selector said, “It is an injection, not pain killer. We don’t even know that they have taken the injection. For pain killer, they need a prescription, it can also come under doping. With regards to injection, they know which injections don’t come under anti-doping.”

He further added that these players have personal doctors who advise them about taking such substances that will pass under the radar of anti-doping.

Chetan Sharma makes shocking admissions about Bumrah

Sharma also mentioned that Jasprit Bumrah had a very bad back condition. He had been so harshly injured that he could barely bend his back when he returned to NCA. Yet he was able to play in the coming series with ease.

Upon being asked about why the selection committee is not being able to do anything about the incident, Sharma said that it is hard to identify the group. He believes that out of 99% that report to the NCA after getting injured, only 0.5% players are taking injections.

Hence it makes their task relatively hard to capture the culprit. He also told the speaker that he only engrosses with the players on the field. Once they return to the hotel they have separate lives, and Sharma is not the one to pry.

Chetan Sharma is in troubled waters after this sting operation in which he has revealed or at least talked a little too much than the BCCI would have liked.

Apart from questioning the fitness of the players, Sharma also talked about the Kohli-Ganguly clash. And the huge ego heads that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are in the team.
