Man Utd to Upgrade Old Trafford With £3 Billion or Build New Stadium

Premier League giants, Manchester United have come across a lucrative possibility which includes a variety of stadium plans, tearing it down, and an opportunity of an upgrade for their current home ground, Old Trafford and building a new one.

However, these interesting decisions for the club are currently suspended because of the shaky ownership situation. United was previously bought by the Glazer family back in 2005 for £790million. They recently put up the club for sale in November and are expecting to sell for around £8 billion.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Britain’s richest man is also a United fan and has been rumoured to be in contact with the club holding an offer. He was earlier contacted by ex-United director to take over the club, but turned a blind eye to the request.

The Glazer family, for the first time in six years did not take dividend payments for United. This might also be due to the huge sums spent on transfers this summer. Owing to this, all crucial decisions, including permanent transfers, are currently put on hold until the future of the club gets decided.

Some fans expressing their love for the evergreen home

One of the biggest complaint that the fans of the Red Devils have had in the past few years is that the Glazers put almost no investment in their beloved Old Trafford. Many of the fans believe that their home is now a little outdated and it is now the time for a good renovation to bring it par with other modern and elite stadiums across Europe.

The Red Devils have two different options in their plate, to provide the club’s home ground for 112 years a revamp or to build a whole new stadium. The latter would spike the cost to a next level but would also have many new advantages including financial ones.

As they appoint the agency who also managed Tottenham’s stadium, the thought behind building the brand new stadium seems just a tad bit more expensive. It is believed that building one would cost around £2billion, which is approximately double the amount for just a renovation of the current Old Trafford.

The real reason why the Red Devils are adamant on renovating or building a new stadium is modernising and increasing the overall size of the club’s profitable hospitality facilities during the matchdays.
