Neeraj Chopra, India’s Olympic champion in javelin throw, has made a stunning comeback after a month-long injury layoff, claiming the gold medal at the prestigious Lausanne Diamond League tournament. In a remarkable display of skill, Chopra achieved a throw of 87.66 meters, solidifying his position as one of the world’s top athletes in his discipline. This victory marks his second consecutive win in the Diamond League, following his previous triumph in Doha. It is worth noting that Chopra secured his maiden Diamond League title in the Lausanne leg in August last year and went on to claim the Diamond League trophy a month later. After missing three prominent events due to a muscle strain, Neeraj Chopra’s return to competition at the Lausanne leg was nothing short of extraordinary. Javelin Throw Results and Competition

Neeraj Chopra’s winning performance in Lausanne saw him deliver throws of varying distances. Starting with a foul, he then recorded throws of 83.52 meters and 85.04 meters. Another foul in the fourth round preceded his title-winning throw of 87.66 meters. In his final attempt, Chopra achieved a throw of 84.15 meters. Germany’s Julian Weber secured the second spot with a best throw of 87.03 meters, while Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic, the silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics and the current season-leader, finished third with a throw of 86.13 meters.

Neeraj Chopra’s victory at the Lausanne leg has solidified his position at the top of the Diamond League standings, accumulating a total of 16 points. He is followed by Jakub Vadlejch with 13 points and Julian Weber with 12 points. The upcoming Monaco and Zurich legs, scheduled for July 21 and August 31 respectively, will also feature the men’s javelin throw event.
