Nathan Ake Signs 2-Year Contract Extension with Manchester City

Netherland international and Premier League club, Manchester City’s defender Nathan Ake has penned down his contract extension with the Sky Blues for a period of two years, keeping him at the Etihad Stadium until 2027.

The Dutch player had previously joined Manchester City back in 2020 by signing a contract for a period of five years for 40 million euros from Bournemouth. He played a key role in Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning squad last season, making a total of 41 appearances across all competitions.

Ake made a public statement saying that this [City] was the best club in the world and that he had no doubts about it, adding that being a player of Manchester City made him incredibly proud every single day.

The 28-year-old continued to say that the club expected excellence in every area, which was one of the reasons making it the perfect environment for improvement. He also said that he was in the stage of his career where he only wanted to keep developing and that City was where he could do it.

The Dutch defender shared his bits about City boss Pep Guardiola saying that he was the best manager in football, a genius who made players like him see the game of football differently and that the opportunity of working with him for a longer period of time was a real privilege.

“I am so grateful to him for everything he has done for me, both personally and professionally,” said Ake on Pep.

As an excellent player, Ake had aided the Sky Blues in claiming their League titles throughout all the three seasons at the Etihad, where he overall was decorated with six trophies.

The defender, being one of the most versatile players of the squad, also played the positions of center-back and left-back, which aided in him becoming one the centric players in Pep’s squad that won the treble last season.

He managed 41 appearances in a single season compared to 40 appearances he had his first two seasons combined.
