Manchester City 2-0 Newcastle; Foden, Silva score to keep Man City in Title Hunt

Manchester City has passed a big match on a sweet note and have kept their title race still on pace after they have beaten Newcastle 2-0 amidst a clash between the two wealthiest clubs in English football.

Phil Foden provided Manchester City with an early lead only 15 minutes into the match beating goalkeeper Nick Pope, after he was started by Guardiola instead of Riyad Mahrez on the right wing position.

Despite Newcastle’s tremendous efforts that managed to keep City at an edge throughout the match with their powerful counterattacks, City acquired their second goal.

It was Bernardo Silva, who came on the pitch as a replacement for de Bruyne who was substituted off for an invisible performance, expanded City’s lead with a second goal at the 67th minute of the match after utilizing a flick from Haaland.

Manchester City has now become only the second club after Liverpool to have beaten Newcastle in the current league season. This has also increased City’s pressure on the table toppers, Arsenal, who are currently leading only by five points.

This crushing defeat by the hands of City has served another blow for Newcastle after losing the Europe League Cup finals to Manchester United earlier last week and a declining performance in the league within previous few weeks.

Newcastle have fallen down from the top four of the Premier league table, which means they are below the bid to qualify for the Champions League. Tottenham currently stand their way with a four-point difference in the fourth position.

However, Manchester City have their own battles to fight, as they are trying to fight more than 100 charges by the Premier League for their alleged breaches of PL’s financial rules which might lead to harsh punishments, if found guilty.

Newcastle remain under careful investigation as new questions have been raised and emerged about their Saudi Arabian investment after Premier League is urged to review that Saudi’s sovereign wealth fund stand as separate entities from their country’s government.
